The artwork ‘God Save Captain Swing’ ( part of the God Save Us All series) was designed for use in the 1980 SEX PISTOLS film ‘The Great Rock “n” Roll Swindle’. Published in 2003 as an edition 50 silkscreen print on ARCHES88.

Several patterns of this colour scheme were produced under Jamie's own direction, and this is the one he has owned for a long time as his favourite colour scheme. The colours actually sold were pink and black, which look very different.

Some of the sample patterns produced can be seen on auction websites, but signed pieces are rarely seen. That is why these pieces are so valuable.

It comes with a ‘COA’ issued by the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop, a UK gallery Jamie was a member of at the time.

Jamie Reid: Born 1947, England. At art school, he met Malcolm McLaren, the man behind the Sex Pistols, with whom he did all the Pistols' artwork. His design with the safety pin on Queen Elizabeth's lips in God Save the Queen has been described as a punk rock icon. Died in 2023.
